Charles Bridge

The Charles Bridge crosses the Vitava River between the Old Town and Prague Castle.

Building of the bridge began in 1357 during the reign of King Charles IV and was completed at the beginning of the fifteenth century. Thirty statues were added around the turn of the 18th century.

Beginning in 1965, the statues have been replaced by replicas with the originals being displayed in the National Museum.
