The Cloth Hall is the central feature of the market square of the Old Town of Krakow.
Until the end of the 16th century, Krakow was the capital city of Poland. Until this period, the Cloth Hall was a trading space for imports of silk, leather and spices and exports of textiles, lead and salt from the Wieliczka Salt Mine.
By 1870, the historic city centre had become run down. The Cloth Hall was successfully renovated to a design by Tomasz Pryliński
Today the upper floors of the Cloth Hall are used as an art gallery and the building is still used to entertain visiting dignataries.
