Museum of Fine Arts

The museum is currently closed for renovation until March 2018

The Museum of Fine Arts, situated in Heroes Square, facing the Palace of Art, houses a collection international art. The collection includes all periods of European art

It was built by the plans of Albert Schickedanz and Fülöp Herzog in an eclectic-neoclassical style, between 1900 and 1906.

The collection is made up of various older additions such as those from Buda Castle, the Esterházy and Zichy estates, as well as donations from individual collectors and comprises more than 100,000 pieces.

The are six departments. Egyptian, Antique, Old sculpture gallery, Old painter gallery, Modern collection, Graphics collection.
