Schindlers Factory

A museum and an art gallery now occupy the site of the former Schindler factory. The museum is a branch of the Historical Museum of Krakow.

Oscar Schindler's most famous exploits, chronicled in the the book Schindler's Ark and the movie Schindler's List, took place mostly in the Krakow area.

Schindler took over a failing metalwork factory in the Zablocie district of the city of Krakow. The factory used Jewish slave labourers from the nearby Plaszow concentration camp.

The museum documents the Nazi occipation of Krakow and more specifically the experiences of the Jewish population and the workers at the Schindler factory.
